Yes. I Was Running.
So, today I accomplished my best feat yet! I ran 9.25 miles. It wasn't too shabby. Glad it's done. And I was booking it. Here's the proof.
Izak: Mommy, why did you stop running?
Me: I didn't. I'm still running.
Izak: You are?!!!
Yep. I was.

Helping Seth
The good supportive wife that I am, I wanted to help Seth with his marathon goals.
So I put his ipod and headphones through the washer and the dryer.

I beat a 53 yr. old!
WARNING: THIS POST IS RATED PG for language.
Apparently we all did 5Ks this weekend. (Kate and I each did one as well.)
I did the PG Heritage Festival "BEAT BEETHOVEN" race. The whole point is to beat Beethoven's 5th Symphony, which is 32 minutes long. And I did. I came in at 28:23. So I have a great pin that says "I Beat Beethoven" that I will wear whenever I go running.
Anyway, I started out behind this family of 3 kids who I guessed were 9 (girl),7(boy),and 5(boy) but I found out later were 11,9 and 7. Good thing. I was behind them for a while and our Library Chair Carla-- who is 53. (I only know b/c it says on the results.) I kept waiting for them all to get tired so I could pass them and feel good about myself.
I passed Carla shortly after the first mile but she and her husband were still right with me. Then I passed the 7 yr old boy. YAY! But, then he passed me back on the down hill. Don't worry though. I passed him and his older brother at about the 2 mile mark and was making my move on their sister.
My nemesis.
I ran next to her for at least a few minutes before I finally passed her. Hallelujah.
Then about 2 minutes later, she made her move on me.
Damn her!
And, she brought her 9 yr. old brother with her. And Carla. Apparently, the 2.5 mile point is my downfall. So if you want to make your move on me, you know when to do it.
As we were nearing the last corner I knew I couldn't let Carla beat me. She's 53 for heaven's sake.
So, I made my move because I really didn't want to be sprinting in to beat her at the finish line because wouldn't that look pathetic?
So I made my move so I could pass her and gain a little self respect.
And I did it. She finished 2 seconds behind me. Shame on her.
The 11 year old will have to wait until next time. Today was not my day. But the battle is not over, sister.
Oh, and I ran on Thursday another 4 miles with Eden in the jogging stroller. This time I wasn't as bored because I remembered my Ipod. It felt great.
But, I still had that flat.
PS: When looking for a 53 year old woman picture I found this article that makes me feel a little better. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/30/health/nutrition/30Fitness.html

Moonlight Run
Last night I did the Palo Alto Moonlight Run. I ran the 5k. I didn't do as well as I wanted to, but I'm glad I did it. I wanted to do under 30 minutes, but I did about 33:45. It was a little frustrating because it was so crowded and the trail was so narrow that for the first three minutes I had to walk, and then for the first mile or so I was trying to get around people (not that I was that fast--I was passing old people, jogging strollers, kids, and high school girls who were running and giggling about boys at the same time). It was just really crowded. After I had a little space it was easier to run faster (for me) and get a good pace going.
My sister Rachel was in town and she did the 5k walk, so that was cool to both do something together (although we weren't actually together--the walk was an hour and a half earlier). I am really excited for her that she did the walk. And I am just proud of myself for doing a race at all on Nelle's two month bday!
Here we are showing off our nonexistent muscles:

I know you guys are all jealous of how cool we Wagners look.

I Could've Walked Faster, But At Least I Did It, Right?
So, I felt really unmotivated today. I was too lazy to push Izak and Landon out the door (fed, clothed, and happy) by 7:15am so we didn't do the run before I dropped Izak off at preschool. I was suppose to do 5 miles (well, I'm suppose to do it on Saturday, but I'm running a 5k race on Saturday so I decided to do it today instead). I ended up running 4.5 miles and then stopped for 10 minutes to pick up Izak from preschool and then ran 1.5 miles home. I'm hoping the extra mile makes up for the fact that I had a 10 minute break?? I didn't feel that great running, but I was just glad I actually did it....
How's it going for you all?

Me So Slow
I did my run today.
I ran about 2.75 miles to drop Izak off at preschool. And then I ran the 1.5 miles back.
Nothing too significant. Who am I kidding? I can't believe I forgot, it was VERY significant because I didn't have to tell Izak one time to keep good space with Landon nor did I have to bribe him to keep good space. You all may not understand the significance of this. Let me give you a little glimpse into how it is running with Izak and Landon.
Pant, Pant, "Izak, keep good space", Pant, Pant, "Izak, you need to keep good space", Pant, Pant, "Izak if you keep good space we can go swimming (or to the park or watch a movie or get a cookie....) when we get home", Pant, Pant, "Izak, remember you're trying to earn your reward", Pant, Pant, "Izak, if you don't stop pushing (or touching or smashing or hitting) Landon you're going to have to have a time out when we get home", Pant, Pant, "Izak, stop touching Landon right now" (In not the most pleasant voice ever).
So, yea, my run was 10 times easier just because I didn't have to waste all that energy on my usual conversation with Izak.
It was great.

Not yet committed
I haven't committed to anything yet. Because I'm not the type of person to say I'm going to do something and then I don't. So I'm not going to commit until I'm sure I want to do this.
But I did run today with Eden in the jogging stroller.
And, it had a flat.
I know, I'm not as tough as Kate pushing two kids but it did have a flat so that counts for something.
I ran about 3 1/2 miles and felt pretty good considering I had a flat.
Now, I need a new tube.
Because, did I mention, I had a flat?
But, I guess it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

(Yah, Seth, take that, can't shut me up over the internet. It's funny to me!)

Check-In Monday
Hello all!
I did 4 miles today. It was super nice because it actually started raining, so it was by far the coolest run I've done here, which was great since I got going later on my run today (9am instead of 7:30am). So it was nice. If everyone just wants to edit this post to add theirs in this same post, I think that should work. Or whatever everyone wants to do...can't wait to hear from you all! Oh, also, there's a half marathon too if people don't want to do the full marathon. And for you ambitious ones out there, there's a 50 miler! Go get 'em tiger! Tchau! Kate
